Haleakalā National Park officials say that entrance fees with be waived on Wednesday, December 5 in honor of President George W.H. Bush.
The day has been designated a National Day of Mourning in the 41st presidents memory.
Visitor centers, campgrounds, and restrooms will be open. Sunrise reservations are required for sunrise viewing at the summit.
“National parks are reminders of the American values, ideals, and freedoms” park officials say. “Dozens of national park units, including birthplaces, homes, and monuments, commemorate the service of American leaders, including many U.S. presidents.”
