Hawai`i’s Unemployment Rate at 2.5 Percent in December

The Hawai`i State Department of Labor & Industrial Relations on Thursday announced that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for December was 2.5 percent compared to 2.4 percent in November. Statewide, 666,500 were employed and 16,900 unemployed in December for a total seasonally adjusted labor force of 683,400. Surfer Found Unresponsive in Waters Off Honolua Bay

Maui Fire Department personnel responded to multiple ocean rescue calls over the weekend. Two of these calls occurred on the NW shoreline where large surf was reported. Juvenile Arrested on Suspicion of Arson After Brush Fire Burns in Kihei

At 3:45 pm yesterday, Maui firefighters were called to the area of the South Maui Community Park on Liloa Drive for reports of a brush fire. Two engines and two tankers responded.
