Heavy rains in West Maui prompt Flash Flood Warning

At 6:42 PM, radar indicated heavy rain near Kapalua. Rain was falling at a rate of two to three inches per hour. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

The National Weather Service has ISSUED a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for WEST MAUI in effect until 9:45 PM
* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to:
Kahului, Kapalua, Honokohau, Kahakuloa, Waikapu, Lahaina, Wailuku, Waiehu, Olowalu, Maalaea, Waihee and Napili-Honokowai

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is occurring or will develop quickly.

This warning may be extended if flash flooding persists.
