Kihei Structure Fire Displaces Nine

A Kihei structure fire that displaces nine people summoned the Maui Fire Department on Saturday afternoon.

Fire personnel responded to a 1:32 p.m. alarm for a blaze on Wainohia Street in Kihei.

Officials say the majority of the fire was confined to a single room in the house but that smoke damage occurred throughout the structure.

Crews had the situation under control by 2 p.m.

No injuries were reported and the Red Cross is providing aid to the individuals impacted by the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
